Hello from Castrum Lusitania, my fortress in northern Portugal. Welcome to another edition of our weekly newsletter.
You might remember that last week I said that there wasn’t gonna be a newsletter this week. But there was simply too many good stuff making the rounds, so I decided to quickly put one together for you.
First of all: my next book!
Next gig: The Sacrificers
It’s with great pleasure that I join The Sacrificers for a three issue run. The book is a fantastic creation by Rick Remender and Max Fiumara and you can read all about it here. It goes without saying, but I highly recommend the book.
I’ll be working on issues 10-12, having at this moment already drawn covers for the three issues and the entirety of issue 10. Right now, I have with me the scrip for #11, which I’ll begin penciling next week.
The last two newsletters contained some very sneaky peeks, but from now I’ll be able to share a lot more. And right after these 3 issues, me and Rick will begin our own thing.
For now, here’s the cover for 10 (colors by Dave McCaig).
Things are a bit grim on this issue, to say the least.
Now on Sale - Phenomena Book 2!
This week also marked the official on sale date for Phenomena Book 2: Matilde’s Quest! It’s incredibly exciting to have it out in the wild and in the hands of the readers - the part that matters the most. I know some people who preordered got it earlier, but from now on it will hopefully be easily available everywhere where books are sold.
Here’s a quick video I did for the launch, going through the beautiful package Abrams put together:
New Void Rivals cover revealed
Another thing revealed this week was my cover for Void Rivals #9, featuring Springer. Some of you might have noticed that this is part 3 of 6 of a massive connecting cover - expect all about process on this behemoth in the future.
For now, the stand alone cover, with colors by Chris O’Halloran:
Masterclass with Bendis
Finally, last Friday I joined Brian Bendis on his amazing Masterclass series for an episode on art, craft, word building, process and much more. Because this is a special one, Brian shared it for free, so you can hear me rambling on the video below:

That will do it for this week folks, see you soon!
André
What a great discussion on craft, thanks for sharing! Loved hearing about the collaboration process, and how your architectural degree helped prepare you mentallly for a career in comics. Oh, and I'd like to echo Bendis' request that you write and draw a project of your own soon!
Excellent news! I just read the Sacrificers trade (1-6) last week - fantastic story!
