Hello from Castrum Lusitania, my fortress in northern Portugal. Welcome to another edition of our weekly newsletter.
Something that had never happened to me before happened twice (!) in the space of a month, as two commissions were dropped. Or at least I assume they were, as both clients went silent.
More details below, but - long story short: I thought of announcing a couple of slots and, in case anyone is interested, subscribers get dibs.

Dropped commissions
I don’t usually announce commission slots as I prefer to focus most of my time on making comics. I do get requests regularly via email or social media and, if possible, I work on them, which allows me to scratch that itch. Some people can’t afford it and say it right away, others move forward with it and we go right away to the end.
Now for the first time, I had two dropped commissions after clients agreeing on the conditions, subject and me working on thumbnails for both pieces. After I sent the thumbnail, both clients went silent, so I assumed they were dropped after a few weeks of no response. If the thumbnail had been rejected, I would’ve worked on a new one (as I’ve done in the past), but that didn’t seem to be the case.
It’s no big deal and people have their reasons, though I won’t lie in saying I’d prefer to be messaged about it.
But all of this is just an excuse to show you two thumbnails that I was very excited about.
First commission was about EC Comics (something I have never drawn before) and this is what I came up with:
Second commission was left for me to pick. I had an idea for an insane techno-organic Batman that I wanted to try so I proposed this:
I still feel tempted to finish the Batman one, even if just for me. Maybe one day.
Cover(s) week
This week saw me thumbnailing, penciling and beginning to ink a few more pages for Project Red, but also doing some heavy cover work. Last Monday I finished two more for a couple of great (still unannounced) comic books and started working on a cover for a medieval novel. My mom wrote the book and we’ll see all the details next week (when it should be finished). But because you’re cool I’ll leave you with a couple of details from the printed pencils:
This will be pretty tasty to ink.

See you next week!
