This week I have for you a preview for Phenomena Book 2. So, we’re gonna go light on text and let the pages speak for themselves. Book 2 is coming on April 23, 2024 and you can already preorder it directly through Abrams and other retailers:

Phenomena Book 2 - Art Preview

The second book follows our three heroes as they continue their quest to explore and understand the brand new world around them. On this volume, we’ll dive into Matilde’s hometown: Valentia Verona, a place formerly known as London. You can read below the official synopsis:

A young boy named Boldon, a mysterious girl named Matilde, and the warrior Spike—survivors of a phenomena that took over Earth years ago. Not an apocalypse . . . something far more interesting.

Following their adventure in The Golden City of Eyes, Matilde’s Quest brings our trio to Valentia Verona (formerly London, England)—one of the most fantastical places on the planet. There, with the help of Boldon and Spike, her newfound friends, Matilde is determined to confront the reason she was cast from her home to wander the land in the first place. But as they stop at each village Matilde has been protecting along the way, they begin to realize that rumors of their exploits are more widespread than they imagined. They are becoming legend and folklore. And with their mythology comes new threats. In a world where story is currency, they are becoming a powerful force to be reckoned with . . . and, at the same time, attracting attention from both bounty hunters and forces of darkness beyond their understanding.

We’ll see echoes of what happened in volume 1, but the more people pass the story around, the more distorted it gets:

Beginning to ramp up for the launch of a book is always very exciting, particularly when no issues have been launched, meaning people have yet to experience any of the story we’ve been cooking. And let me assure you, both Brian and I couldn’t be prouder of what we’ve done. There will be much more to share in the coming weeks and months, but I hope this first glimpse was to your liking.

For anyone following my newsletter, you know that we’re hard at work on Phenomena Book 3 at the moment. So much so, that when Book 2 launches, 3 is gonna be wrapped on the creative side of things and already in post production. This allows any reader to feel at ease to invest time and their hard-earned money on our books, knowing you’ll get the complete trilogy no matter what.
