What a lovely tribute. I have, shamefully, not read any of his work, but this post makes me want to start.
I'd highly recommend it. You can try the first few volumes of Dragon Ball (it's pure adventure and comedy, unlike the later volumes, which are all about epic action and enormous sagas) or SandLand, which is a one shot one volume.

He did it after Dragon Ball and clearly with the intent of going back to the original adventurous spirit of the beginning of DB.
