Always appreciate you sharing your process man. Your speed just amazes me, especially since the work is so stellar! Switching to digital pencils, do you ever find yourself zooming in too much? Or have you lost some of the tactile pleasure of drawing on paper?

I prefer drawing on paper, but since I look at pencils as just a step towards the final drawing (which is inking), being much faster in that step is worth the trade. And no, I don't zoom too much. I use a slightly thick pencil to avoid doing that. And I found out that what I actually do is zoom OUT to make the big gestures easier- which again, helps the speed, because you're actually drawing smaller.

That’s fascinating! I need to experiment with some of my local print shops. Do you bring your own paper or do they keep the paper you need?

Forgot that bit: I bring the paper that I was working with with traditional pencils already. And yeah, experimenting is key. The first time I went there it printed to dark, so I went again with the layer opacity turned to 20%, 35% and 50%. I think I went with 35 but it was a bit too light. I'll try a bit more this time.

I really want to move into this model, digitally pencilling and traditional inking. May I ask how you print the pages? I’d love to know what printer you use, or if you have them made outside your studio.

Thank you so much for the in depth look at your process!

I just use the local printing shop. My printer is only used as scanner these days because with the upgrades the MacBook went through it stopped being compatible. I considered changing it but then I tried the local printing and they do it pretty cheap (plus the scanner works fine). The only thing I adjust is the opacity of the pencils before printing otherwise it will print too strong and interfere with the inking. I basically go down to 50%.
