The intensity of your Phenomena Book 2 pages remind me of Geof Darrow & Frank Miller's Hard Boiled (1990-1992), but you bring a lyrical optimism that is all your own.
You might be familiar with Weird World by Doug Moench, Mike Ploog and Alex Nino (1977), but with Phenomena you have grounded fantastical images with practical realities in the most delightful way. I honestly believe that Phenomena is changing the fantasy game with love, peace and soul.
May you and your family relax, recharge and renew on this well-earned vacation :D
Thanks Brad! That’s a very nice comment. I’m a huge fan of Geof Darrow (as a person and as an artist). I was not familiar with WeirdWorld but it indeed seems to be something with a similar tone and approach. Cheers!
Hi André Lima Araújo! What you and Brian Michael Bendis accomplish with Phenomena is a "scare me again, daddy" approach. We cannot protect our children from terrors in this world, but as creators (and as parents) we should provide a solution commensurate to our children's abilities and resources. Because even when our kids force us to take them along on vacation... we are blessed to have them! Safe travels :D Sincerely, Brad Barnes
Thanks Jerry! No release date to announce at this point, should still be a little bit before it hits the shelves. As for the thumbnails, yeah I like doing them well enough so everyone involved in the book can have a good grasp of what it will look in the end. Even if it's just for me, I prefer to do it. It might imply an extra day of work, but that's nothing in the overall schedule and it gives you a super solid blueprint to work from.
I love those thumbnails, even in this early stage they're so clear and readable. And those crowd scenes from book 2 are amazing. So many details!
Hope you have a wonderful holiday! I have 2 little daughters, I can only imagine how hard can be sometimes with 3 :) Cheers!
Thanks you, Dániel! With two little ones I’m sure you have a good idea of how it goes down - not very well :D
Oh, I know it very well :D

That’s a great way to put indeed! Thanks Brad.
Your thumbnails are rather tight for thumbnails! Maybe I should rethinking how I do them. I’m very very loose, which may or may not be bad.
The sneak peek at Book Two has me so jazzed! Is there a release date?!
Hope you enjoy your vacation, restful or otherwise! :)

The preview pages for Book 2 are fantastic! Thanks for sharing and enjoy your vacation.
Thank you so much, Mike!
